My mother was venting last night, seeing how we seem to be losing our city to the flood. She was going on and on about becoming the Lost City of Cedar Rapids, like the Lost City of Atlantis? It was funny for a while. Until I decided to go out and buy A LOT of water bottles, so we wouldn’t have to waste water. We got caught in the storm, of course.
We left the house a little after six, to pick up my sister’s friend who would be staying with us. We get to 42nd street and the sky opens up to start poring on us. I was driving my mother’s car, so I didn’t know how to work the windshields. It was a bloody disaster. We live on Blair’s Ferry Road, so the flood hasn’t caused us any problems. My mother has to cross the downtown bridge to get to work in the mornings and people go out there just to take pictures, so it takes hours to actually get anywhere!
My sister went sandbagging, too, and I’m still waiting for things that I ordered online, wondering if I’ll ever get to see the stuff I bought.
