The Life and Times of Raiden

Raiden was born to Laguna and Raine, King and Queen of Rayjah (Heaven). He was the sixth born son, though technically he was the seventh son. Mahsae, Raiden’s other half, was not born from Queen Raine but was considered her son as well. Raiden fulfills the prophesy of the seventh son of the seventh son, he was the seventh son of Laguna, who was a seventh son himself.

Raiden’s power was great, even unborn, and he slowly drove the Queen insane until she was corrupted by the darkness, bearing forth Mahsae. Raiden was also tainted by the darkness and was born with one darkened wing, which caused him much grief in years to come.

Raine would have nothing to do with the newborn babe and Raiden was given to the servants to raise. He was forced to dress effeminately because his mother thought him a {insert w-word here}. Though his older brothers tried to protect him from their mother’s wrath, Raiden did not like to be coddled, and often took the full grunt of her anger.

He did not understand the concept of love, though he loved things himself. Often he would “fall in love” with another god, only to lose interest quickly {usually after having borne a child}. He did not truly fall in love until he began spending more time with Rayn, his eldest brother, and his family. He fell in love with Rayn’s youngest son, Hijiri, who was far older than him.

Hijiri was bound {married} to another god at the time and had his own children, who were older than Raiden themselves.

Before Raiden was born, life in Heaven was peaceful. But since his birth many bad things had happened to their world. Many of the gods resented Raiden, Hijiri included.

Though Raiden began to understand as he grew older, the reason no one “truly” cared for him. He stopped fighting back when his mother locked him in the Isolation Room. Spending his days creating new beings and new worlds.

At her son’s lack of response to her abuse, Raine began to calm and her attention diverted to other things.
